Auntie Ash

He's here! My sister had a oh-so-cute baby boy on Wednesday March 24th. He is such a little trooper even though he is having some health issues (his mommy is also a trooper...sick babies are not fun!) I sure hope the little one gets to come home soon so I can squeeze those newborn cheeks!

PS- I have a huge, yet amazingly fun family. Here is just a fraction of us (The Cowley/Maughan side).

Family Fun

Lately we have really been enjoying being our own little family. With Ryker getting older, it is more fun to take him places because he genuinely enjoys going out. In the past few weeks, we have taken a drive to Hardware Ranch to see the elk- suprise, no snow=no elk. It was a quick, cold, windy trip and this picture is terrible, but we still had fun talking and enjoying the scenery on the way up.

Ryker hates sleep, but he loves naps with Daddy. Here they are on the couch in "the thinker" and "quit taking pictures" positions. I love my guys!

We went to our ward party last night. It was really fun and great food. Dustin and I switched off taking Ryker to run the halls. All the other babies (toddlers?) his age sit very content...not our maniac! He was squealing and trying to pound on the piano and well, being himself. Tyson, a neighbor boy has a little brother the same age as Ryker and he played with Ryker all night saying "my baby doesn't walk yet! Look at him walk! (VERY loud forced laugh) He keeps saying tee-tee! (Another laugh)" Man, it was so fun to see him interact with other kids. I am sure we are the "bad parents" in our ward because our kid doesn't know how to "behave" but hey, how do you discipline a 1 year old and "make" him sit still. I say mission impossible.

Anyways, this is getting long. They had Santa come and I thought- oh, Ryker loves everyone! He will be fine...

Not so! Screaming bloody murder the second I put him on his lap. This picture makes me laugh so hard though (I know, scared does not equal funny, but I beg to differ!) Check out another post below for everything that makes me giggle about Ryker.

We are so glad we have our little guy and can experience being a kid all over again!

Ropes Course and Other Stuff

Last week Dustin's family had a fun day where we went to the USU ropes course. The activities included:

Blind Man's Tag

Teeter-Totter Balance

Spider Web Shuttle

Wobbly Log

50 foot Rock Wall

Zip Line!

I ate lots of candy with Grandma!

It was the most fun I have had in a long long time. The best thing was, all the cousins were there- well, the out of state ones. Treisha's kids loved Ryker and he LOVED them! We ate Mandarin Garden and homemade sweet pork burritos and zucchini bread. Good thing we got a great workout in!

Saturday we went down to SLC to visit with Dustin's Aunt Lee...she has an aggressive form of cancer but is SO upbeat and optimistic. I just loved her and she loved Ryker. (Doesn't everyone :) I am going to get a picture of the view from Aunt Fran's penthouse apartment. It is right behind the conference center and the temple is right there- GORGEOUS!

Lee and Ryker

Are you talking to ME? Grandma Zoe and Ryker

Kent and Lori

The in-laws :) Scott and Cindy

Love this picture- Cousins Tandie and Tawnee with Grandpa Dar...what is he doing?!?!

We also got to stay at my sister-in-law Kristi's while the boys went on a camping trip for Colby's birthday. Nikelle just loves Ryker and trys to help out by picking him up. He goes limp and gets this "whatever" look on his face. SO CUTE!

They don't look ANYTHING alike....

Little man in a big chair

We have had a fun week and this week is going to be crazy. Our anniversary is tomorrow and we're going to look at houses (YAY!) Thanks for your input- we are going to probably buy instead of build now, thank goodness! Building with another company other than my brother-in-law with Highcountry Homebuilders is not really an option, but those neighborhood building things sound great!

We also are going to stay over at my Grandmas for 2 days with Uncle Brad so that she can get a much deserved vacation. As for vacations, Grandma Shanna is in ALASKA...jealous.

Random Happenings...

So, my camera battery is permanently dead and until I get a new one you will have to deal with no pictures :)
We had a really fun week! On Tuesday we went to the Hogle Zoo with Kristi, Kell, Jeri, Kaiya, Aspen and Baby Emily. We had so much fun! Ryker is still a little bit too young to get the concept but he did see a few animals and get excited. He's definately his mother's child- loves people watching!
Today we went to the Providence monument dedication for their 150 year anniversary. We met Boyd K. Packer. I shook his hand and he took Ryker's hand and said "but he won't remember this." Well I will! It was great to be in the presence of such a great man. I have been so excited all week to meet him...he's my favorite apostle (doesn't everyone have a fav?)
After that fun time, we went to a BBQ with Dustin's family. His cute cousin Traci and her cute boys are up from Arizona so she planned it all. It was so great seeing everyone because it's usually only around the holidays that we all get together. We then played Milk Carton Baseball- so fun! You just cut the bottoms off of Clorox bottles (they work better and are sturdier) and then you have to catch AND throw with just the cartons. It was so funny- you have to put them on your head until the ball is pitched. All the uncles with them on their heads was a priceless picture (did I mention that I am SO mad that my camera is dead?!?)
Ryker turned 7 months old on Friday...time flies and I cannot believe that it's less than a half year until he's one! Love that little man...he sure gets around, crawling and pulling himself up. He's just starting to walk around the furniture and stood by himself for a few seconds today! YAY and UH-OH!
It has been a fun summer already and I can't wait for more good times!
